Dalguise is very much a typical Plantation on Ancient woodland site (PAWS) wood, with native oak trees (left) interspersed with planted conifers (right). The mix on this site is quite good, with most of the oaks having space to grow, and the conifers providing additional sheleter and food for red squirrels, which the oak trees alone would not sustain as well.
