On Saturday 5th December, Scottish Native Woods helped support two "Tree O'clock" events, this one in Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire, and another in Aberdeenshire.
Tree O'clock is a Guinness World Record atempt to plant over 680,000 trees in one hour, 11am- noon, right across Britain. It is co-ordinated and promoted by the BBC Breathing Spaces iniative. Scottish Native Woods provided the trees.
Here local volunteers planted 100 hazel trees on Aberfeldy Golf Course. The work was completed by pupils from the Breadalbane Academy LANTRA Rural Skills course, along with committee members of Aberfeldy Golf course, and the two green keepers, Mike Williamson and Ian (Crofty) Menzies. This was a really enjoyable exercise, a great team event, and everyone worked really well together and planted, staked and tubed all 100 trees in an amazing 24 minutes and 30 seconds.
Well done everyone.
It will be a week or so before we know how others got on, and if the world record has indeed been broken. We will keep you posted......fingers crossed.

Why why why do people insist in treating golf courses like Botanical Gardens??
Trees have their place. But, NOT on golf courses.
